Accuses New Delhi, ‘local stooges, Indian media’ of ‘war mongering to divert attention from Kashmir atrocities’
Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said on Monday that New Delhi, its “local stooges” and Indian media were indulging in war mongering to divert the attention of the world community from the atrocities committed by Indian forces in Kashmir at a time when the UN session is underway, a Hurriyat spokesman said.
“Syed Ali Geelani said that 35 members of Sikh community were massacred when Bill Clinton visited India and it was done deliberately to hoodwink America and international community. Similarly the Uri episode is being used in same nature to demoralise people and create suspicions about people’s movement (sic),” the spokesman said in a statement.
Geelani, the statement added, said loss of human lives was a matter of serious concern and as human beings “we feel the pain and believe in promoting universal brotherhood”.
“We never derive pleasure from human sufferings, and the forces personnel who lost their lives were humans,” Geelani said but termed it ‘ironical’ that Indian politicians blamed Pakistan and created war euphoria. He also “slammed India media for biased reporting and irrational reviews”.
“Taking dig at local stooges he (Geelani) said that they in a bid to gain favors of their masters scolded and blamed Pakistan without assigning any logic,” the statement said.
“The reaction is natural but we need to maintain sense and balance while giving vent to our emotions. Hurriyat chairman called all these leaders to follow set of scales of mind and asked that they need to be realistic in such volatile situations (sic),” it added.
Asking Indian politicians and the media to shun “their dubious and double standards”, Geelani said, “We feel there is no difference between humans and the blood is sacred, but the question arises why a deal of double dealing is followed. He asked all those making hue and cry over Uri episode that they should come with answer that why they feel the blood of youth in Kashmir is so cheap and why don’t they feel the pain and agonies the people in Kashmir face (sic).”
“Geelani said that more than 90 youth fell to bullets and pellets, thousands were maimed, properties worth millions ransacked and hundreds lost their vision. You didn’t feel the pain and instead accused people and youth for the crime they never committed. It is very sad that not a single word of sympathy, or resolution was passed in any legislature or apology was sought from bruised people. Nobody came to solace the hurt sentiments of bereaved families and instead people were blamed and forces personal were encouraged,” the statement reads.
The statement said that “what kind of philosophy makes you mourn Uri episode but derive pleasure from the massacre in Kashmir”.
“Geelani expressed his dismay over the criminal silence maintained by international community and said that they for their material gains are reluctant to come to our rescue. They don’t feel their duty to respect human values,” the statement said.
